Meet Lisa Marie Lilienthal, E-RYT 500
Lilie’s Pad Yoga

Lisa Marie Lilienthal grew up in Northern California in a crunchy-granola, left-of-center household steeped in meditation, movement, and mindfulness. Her mother practiced Transcendental Meditation. Her cousin did yoga. And Lisa herself? She learned her first poses alongside her grandmother, watching yoga shows on PBS.

Naturally flexible and drawn to movement, Lisa pursued gymnastics, ballet, and dance throughout her childhood. During her senior year of high school, looking for something different from her usual aerobics videos, she picked up a Raquel Welch VHS featuring the “26 Asana Sequence.” That tape became a gateway. She hasn’t looked back since.

After trying a Hatha yoga class at San Francisco State—earning an “incomplete” when the subtlety of the practice eluded her—Lisa returned to yoga years later while working in the corporate world. Faced with real-world stress, the deeper benefits of the practice began to reveal themselves.

Before becoming a full-time yoga teacher, Lisa taught WaveBo—a Tai Chi and Qi Gong-inspired movement class for seniors—at convalescent homes and retirement communities in Southern California. She completed her 200-hour yoga certification in 2011 at Yoga Blend in Burbank, California (mostly because it meant she could take studio classes for free!). Six years later, she earned her 300-hour certification at Be Yoga South in Charlotte, North Carolina, with a focus on Universal Yoga.

Lisa’s approach is eclectic, informed by extensive training in Hatha, Vinyasa, Universal, Iyengar, Yin, Restorative, Bikram, Ashtanga, and more. She’s also certified to teach a wide range of specialized classes: Mommy & Me, Children, Teens, Couples, Seniors, Ayurveda, Tai Chi, Qi Gong, and the 34 Original Pilates Mat Exercises. Her workshops cover topics like Foundations, Backbends, Pranayama, Mantra, Chakra Theory, and Sound Baths.

She has studied with renowned teachers including Melody White, Seane Corn, Phyllis Rollins, Andrey Lappa, Day Christensen, and Angelique McGowan.

Lisa has taught yoga, pranayama, meditation, and mantra across Southern California, the Carolinas, Vietnam, and Massachusetts—and currently teaches students across the U.S. and Europe via Zoom.

Now in her mid-50s, Lisa brings decades of lived experience to her teaching. She’s faced physical, emotional, and spiritual challenges, and shares her insights with humility, humor, and heart. Whether you're brand new to yoga or diving deeper into your practice, Lisa meets you where you are—offering a space that’s inclusive, supportive, and fun.

Her classes emphasize alignment and safety, with options to turn the volume up or down depending on your needs. Expect a blend of thoughtful instruction, playful curiosity, and the occasional unexpected life lesson—because Lisa knows the real benefits of yoga show up long after you’ve rolled up your mat.
